In the heart of Chelsea, a block away from the Highline, is Blossom On Ninth. This place is very romantic and well furnished. The food really exceeds the expectations set by the impressive decor of this restaurant.
We had the Seitan Picatta, Cashew Cream Ravioli, and a side of Broccoli Rabe. The presentation was spectacular and we could tell from the start how much care was put into each morsel.

The Seitan Picatta was beautiful, two fillets of seitan resting on top of a blanket of sauteed kale on a bed of truffled mashed potatoes, all in a white wine lemon caper sauce. The seitan had a texture which was very similar to meat, and was full of flavor. The mashed potatoes were fluffy and a perfect level of truffle-ness.

The Cashew Cream Ravioli was out of this world, filled with smoked tempeh, pine nuts, spinach, and cremini mushrooms. The pasta was perfectly cooked and well filled. If you like a creamy pasta, you will love this dish.

We had a side of Broccoli Rabe to round off the meal, it was really nice to have. Very nicely sauteed with a good crunch to it and full of flavor.
Blossom is a wonderful and intimate restaurant. It may be on the higher end of the restaurants we have reviewed so far, and is a must try for any special occasion, if not every chance you get!
