Just south of the ever-so-happening exit 32B off the BQE is Modern Love. When coming down Union Ave it’s hard to miss the painted facade advertising its name.

When you walk in it really feels like you are in a special place. We were warmly greeted by the host and waiter, and felt very well attended the entire evening.

As for the food, we had the Truffled Poutine, the Mushroom Scallops, the Grilled Caesar, and the Hen of the Woods Piccata.

If you like truffles you must have the Truffled Poutine. It has the perfect amount of truffle oil to make the mashed potatoes and fries really pop. The almond ricotta was delicious as well, and was so creamy. For a moment we wondered if this place was actually vegan – it is. Chives on top was the icing on the cake. We’ve had Poutine at a vegan cafe in Montreal and this one was just as good.

The Grilled Caesar brings something which is too rare in restaurants these days – baked salad. This sounds really strange for most, but it did not last long as the salad with the ends broiled crunchy is such a great combination. The dressing would have made the salad irresistible on its own.

The Hen of the Woods was also delicious, living up to its name. Mushroom lovers should definitely try this one.
Modern Love Brooklyn truly lives up to it’s name. It is a labor of (modern) love.
